I was half way through writing a post on the incredibly idiotic reaction of the media to Charlie Weis' refusal to divulge the identity of Notre Dame's new starting quarterback when The Blue-Gray Sky beat me to it, saying everything I wanted to say and without using the words asshat, frigtard and whiny-assed-dickheaded-talentless hacks to describe the writers in question. So, good on them.
But if you think about it, isn't it obvious that Weis is doing this precisely for that reason? I just showed you snippets of several stories written just in the last week calling Weis arrogant, annoying, and paranoid. You want to know how many stories have been written about the pressure Notre Dame's new starting quarterback is facing under the national spotlight? How many stories that simultaneously laud this bright newcomer while reminding readers of the high probability that they could not live up to these Beano-esque expectations? Exactly zero.
Now if I could just figure out exactly what Jimmy Clausen did to the South Bend Tribune's Jeff Carroll to invoke his multiple attack articles. Did he run over his dog? Sleep with his wife? Refuse his offer to buy him beer? Why isn't the media obsessing on this important issue?
